My
opinion....
Companies
below (but not all of them) serve a similiar function as the
streaming video portion of other software applications. You
run their program on your computer and that handles transmitting
the images to viewers. With these services you have the option
of showing the video on your site or having it appear on their
site. If you have a fast connection you can easily setup streaming
video using their software - great for a beginner.
The
big pro-and-con about these services is that you are tied
to them. Unlike other webcam applications that you own, these
programs are supported by advertising. Some of that advertising
appears on the java applet that you use to display the video
on your page. Often their websites are awfully busy and can
be very slow to navigate during peak hours. Of course, that
means lots of people viewing your streaming video.
But....
Making
friends online can be fun and exciting. Whether you're looking
for someone who shares your interests, hobbies, or situation
- or if your looking for the love of your life, you can probably
find someone online.
There are many places you can meet people online, with cameras
or without. For starters many of the chat rooms (Yahoo, AOL,
ICQ, Dating Sites, etc) have rooms for people with webcams,
or at a minimum people in the rooms with webcams. This is
a simple place to start. If you've been chatting with people
online for a while, chances are some of your net buddies have
webcams.

Camarades is a webcam community where you
can find people online at all times of the day or night. Their
software is a little confusing, in terms of the user interface,
but it works.
Although they seem to have a lot of members, it's pretty hard
to find ones that are relevant.
If you choose to join, you may want to add your listing in
our Camchoice database. That way others can find you by browsing
the webcam directory, and searching for your key words.
WebCamNow
is a another webcam community. It's a little simpler than
Camarades, but it also has its limitations.
If your viewers want to see you at the highest possible speed,
they have to pay WebCamNow some amount per month.
If you're wanting attention this is a quick place to get it.
EyeBallChat
is a relatively new to the webcam world. Their software is
somewhat cool and trendy in terms of the look and it appears
to be getting good ratings from many of the reviewers. The
software is friendly, relatively easy to install and use,
and the video quality is good.
Their directory of users and interests is pretty good, however
you're left to copy and paste the person's username from their
website into their chat. Hopefully they fix this in future
versions.
The biggest drawback, is because they are relatively new they
are also relatively small in terms of their total number of
members.
That said, they have categories for dating, politics, games,
even Survivor viewers!
CamContacts
brings together people from all over the world, exhibitionists
and voyeurs alike. You can find people from all walks of life,
who have decided to 'open up' their life for you. From college
girls to company executives. What goes on between them is
not subject to our control, so you may encounter private video
chat rooms where live and explicit adult content is being
shown.
Anywebcam
shows you Real Cams and Real People. Watch Cams and Chat with
real people from all over the world for free.
Cybermate
TV gives you streaming webcams, text and audio chat.
View or broadcast live webcams.
Cam
a lot is a very new site based around a free software
download. This site/software facilitates the viewing and broadcasting
of both free and paid for webcams. There are general and adult
sections. Not many cams to be seen yet, but as with all new
cam communities, this will change as more people get to hear
about the place. Camchoice has tried the software, and found
it both reliable and easy to use. Well worth a look.
Pugville
is specialising in cams for the gay and gay friendly community,
this site does feature adult cams. Camchoice can`t actually
comment on the quality or type of thing you`ll see here, as
it`s not our scene, so to speak, but if gay adult cams is
what you`re looking for, this place has to be worth a checking
out.
There
are a few things you should keep in mind, with regards to
safety and security of you and your family (if you have one).

As the name suggests, this is a very adult pay cam site. After
an initial signup fee there are adult cams galore to view
at your leisure. I dont really know if it really fits this
section of camchoice, but its worth mentioning anyway....
On
my cam had some initial teething problems, this site
is now taking off nicely, and the chatrooms are starting to
fill up with a friendly group of people. A nice interface,
and good atmosphere. Well worth a look.
Spotlife
requers a membership to access some areas, but since it`s
free, it`s worth a look, and there`s deffinately a lot going
on in some of the areas on this site.

Safety....
- First
and foremost, keep in mind that not everyone on the Internet
is who they say they are. There are men posing as women,
women posing as men, and all sorts of other questionable
activities.
- With
a webcam you at least get the benefit of seeing them, but
don't be too quick to trust.
Keep in mind that most chat and webcam programs provide
you with only a modest level of privacy.
- In
some cases, the city you are in can be traced through your
computers IP address, therefore giving as little information
about yourself as possible is important to remain anonymous.
There are also software products you can purchase that make
it difficult to identify your location.
- If
you are concerned about safety & privacy we don't recommend
giving out your last name, address or phone number to people
you chat with.
- If
you share the location you are web casting should consider
the impact on others. Although you may feel safe, others
around you could be more vulnerable or feel unsafe.
- It
is great fun to get a webcam to say hi to friends and family
and even make new friends. To protect those you live with,
talk to them about the camera and show them how to turn
it off or disconnect it if they are uncomfortable. If you
do not want minors to access to webcam, it is safest to
disconnect the camera when not in use and put it in a safe
place.
- Use
password protection whenever available. This means that
you should choose a password that they don't know and set
the software to not memorize, "remember me" or
"auto login."
- If
you create a personal page using a domain you registered
for personal use, keep in mind that anyone can look up the
information you entered to secure the domain name.
- Always
remember that the internet is full of adult content and
material not suited for minors. If you are concerned about
minors in your household accessing this material, take appropriate
precautions of monitoring their use and restricting their
accessibility to inappropriate content.
